Master Data
Master data is the reference information that Glacis uses to understand your business — who you work with, where things go, and what you buy and sell. It's the foundation that orders, shipments, and workflows are built on.
The three types of master data
Companies
The businesses you work with — suppliers, customers, freight forwarders, and other partners. Each company has a name, contact details, and a company type that defines its role in your supply chain.
Companies appear as the supplier or customer on orders, and as the shipper, consignee, or forwarder on shipments. They can also have a product supply pricelist — a table of products with SKUs, prices, and validity dates.
Locations
Your physical addresses — warehouses, distribution centers, ports, factories, and delivery addresses. Each location needs at minimum an address line, city, and country.
Locations are used as "Bill To" and "Deliver To" on orders, and as origin/destination facilities on shipments.
Products
The items you buy, sell, or ship. Each product has a SKU (a unique identifier) and a name. Products appear as line items on orders.
Where to manage master data
In the left sidebar, click Master Data to access:
Companies — view, search, and add companies
Locations — view, search, and add locations
Products — view, search, and add products
Each section has a list view with search, filters, and the ability to add new records.
Auto-creation from email
You don't need to add every company and product before you start. When Glacis creates orders from email using AI extraction, it can automatically create missing master data — companies and products that don't yet exist in your system. Start with your core data and let the system fill in the rest.
To learn how to set up your master data, see Quick Start.
